ABOUT ME

I am a product of the Ozarks in Missouri. My family has lived here a long time. If you want to know something about how the Ozarks work, I recommend reading Daniel Woodrell. I could only hope to portray them as well as he has done.

While my parents moved around quite a bit when I was small, I did what growing up I've done in a small town, although I did more when I joined the Army at seventeen. Since then, I've been to college, earned three degrees (BA, MA in English, MAT). On my thirtieth birthday I married the best woman I had found after looking and evaluating for a long time. We have two children who are probably too young for me.

Currently, I teach writing at local colleges sometimes, spend a lot of time playing Scrabble online, and walk and bike the hills hoping to catch glimpses of wildlife. In my spare time, I dig. Sometimes to put in fenceposts at the family farm, but occasionally in a local fossil site searching for mammoth bones.
